When an order is placed, a few things happen as far as notifications to the customer.
First, the customer will first receive an order confirmation email from Shopify. Once your warehouse or 3PL fulfills the order, the package will be assigned a Passport Tracking ID. Once that happens, the customer will receive that tracking ID via email from Shopify as well.
Within this tracking page, the customer has the option to opt-in/subscribe to shipping updates. If the customer chooses to subscribe to update notifications, we will automatically send the customer email updates, to an email address of their choosing, as they occur throughout the package journey. This also applies to updates to let the customer know when the package is available for pickup, if the package is marked as "returned to sender", is stuck in customs, etc.
Due to federal regulations related to GDPR and the CAN-SPAM Act, we require all customers to opt-in to the email notifications and will not notify customers unless they opt in.
